‘The natural evolution of contemporary instrumental music. Flawless.’

— Critical Jazz

Recorded in August 2014 at Dreamland Studios in West Hurley, NY, Laurance’s sophomore album sees him working once again with trusted bandmate Michael League, who co-produces and arranges for the album. Fellow Snarky Puppy member Robert ‘Sput’ Searight features on drums, completing the same core trio that appear on Laurance’s debut album, Flint.

An eight-piece string ensemble brings grandeur to Laurance’s compositions, while the pianist is heard experimenting with a range of keyboard instruments, including the ROLI seaboard and Mellotron. The album was mixed by frequent Bill Laurance collaborator Nic Hard at Limebeat Studios, New York, and CD copies come with a DVD featuring the studio videos, shot and directed by Andy LaViolette, with filming assistance from Brad Holt.

"With Flint, I became interested in breaking down the barriers between genres” Laurance explains. “Swift is a continuation of that exploration. I wanted to broaden the genre spectrum even further."
