a raw, energised, acoustic piano tour-de-force.’

Bill Laurance Trio have announced the release of Live at Ronnie Scott's, an album recorded live at the world-renowned jazz club during their International Piano Trio festival, on Friday 3rd August, 2018.
The trio features Jonathan Harvey on upright and electric bass and Marijus Aleksa on drums. All nine tracks on the album were arranged for a predominently acoustic setup, with the prestige of the venue and great trio albums by the likes of Ahmad Jamal and Oscar Peterson in mind.
The album hears Laurance returning key melodies, harmonies and phrases to the instrument upon which he first composed them, while Harvey and Aleksa streamline the rhythm section, finding characterful ways to serve each song and expressive ways to develop them further, with dynamic solos and sonic textures.
Furthermore, Laurance has chosen to dedicate this album to the late Mel Robinson, his first piano teacher, who he thanks for “instilling the joy in music right from the beginning”.
